STARTING THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP JOURNEY

Aki C. Ashe holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration with a minor in Economics at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Later after that, he took a career in fashion by attending FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in Manhattan, following a calling of many years when it came to passion for color and design. The young designer and entrepreneur in him began to flourish at the early age of 15 when he would sell retail jeans with handcrafted designs made by him to his fellow classmates, for some extra bucks.

AKI PUBLISHES HIS FIRST BOOK ON “DRESSING FOR SUCCESS”

As a strong believer in the “dress for success” model that started innocently at home, when his mother would encourage him to always leave a good impression by being: clean, pristine and well dressed, Ashe has made a business out of instructing and inspiring others to do the same, not only to triple their chances in the workplace, but in order to be given a chance in a world that still “judges a book by its cover”.

“The Power of Perception: How Dressing For Success Can Transform Your life”, written by Ashe was recently published and is available on paperback and kindle versions on Amazon. In this book he takes you along the personal journey of building a life of success, where placing high standards for oneself and living up to those standards, becomes a solid foundation to pave the way in a competitive world.

STARTS BROOKLYN UNITED TIES MENTORSHIP PROGRAM AND

PARTNERS WITH THE ROBERT J. MCGUIRE SCHOLARSHIP TO HELP STUDENTS

Ashe is partnered with the Robert J. McGuire Scholarship at St. Francis College, which was founded by Robert J. McGuire (Former NYPD Commissioner) and Fred & Judy Wilpon (New York Mets Owners). A scholarship that promotes diversity and unlocking the potential of underserved communities, by helping students who would not have an opportunity to go to college before.

Ashe has helped diligently with Miguel Martinez-Saenz (President of St. Francis College) and Thomas Flood (Vice President of St. Francis College), along with their staff in order raise half a million dollars that will change the lives of 60 students, who are now given the opportunity to attend college. This Scholarship will fund the neediest first generation students, among these: the Police Athletics League, Cristo Rey New York H.S, Cristo Rey Brooklyn H.S., Harlem Village Academy, Truman H.S., and The Jackie Robinson Foundation. In addition, he currently mentors one student at a time on a monthly basis in regards to business etiquette and personal empowerment.

FORMED BUSINESS ALLIANCES TO GET COLLEGE STUDENT DISCOUNTS

It’s dreadful but a majority of college students’ income goes to paying college tuition, which makes it extremely difficult for them to invest in themselves. This can range from entertainment and cultural activities like eating out, going to the movies, and so but it also limits them from being able to carry out small self-care routines such as getting a haircut. In order to meet this need for students upon working in colleges as a mentor and speaker, Ashe decided to partner with cafes, restaurants, barbershops, salons, healthcare, and other businesses in the New York City area to create deals and discounts, in order to make these services and activities more affordable for college students.

If you are a business in New York City and would like to offer discounts to our database of college students please email info@brooklynunitedties.com.
